  1. There is a man living in Kilfinane whose name is John Flanagan who is the world champion hammer thrower. There is Dan Shanahan of Kilfinane the world champion hop step and jumper. There is Sean Hanley of Kilfinane who was the best man in the team when they won the All Ireland Hurling Final. There is Dan Flynn of Clovers who was a champion pole jumper. He could jump ten and a half feet high. There was William Connery of Ballinanama who was a champion long jumper. He jumped across the road below the Kilfinane church. The jump was about twenty four feet long.
