  1. Tanning of leather. There was a "tan yard" in Ck. on Shannon where hides were tanned.
    Rope making.
    Thatching. Some men were more skilled than others at thatching. The roofs in this locality are gable roofs and are thatched with "scollaps" and straw or rushes.
    Barrel-making.
    Churn-making.
    Wheel-making. "Pern making" or spools was quite common.
    Nail-making. Nails were made from nail rod and were made by 'nailers' and blacksmiths.
    Whip-making.
