   had no fowl to kill so she killed the cat. The next year she had great wealth and plenty of fowl. But she thought she would have more luck by killing a cat again. So she killed another cat, and the next year she was as poor as ever again. It is thought by old people that St. Martin was killed in a mill and on that day no one would dream of opening a mill.

   In the year 1798 a man who was a Rebel lived in Ullard. One day he was threshing corn with a flail in a house where he worked. The soldiers rode up; to the door, the Rebel stepped out bravely to meet them with the flair in his hand. The Captain told him that for his bravely he would give him
