  1. In the townsland of Tyroe there is a house which belongs to Mrs. Nolan. Once a man named Byrne lived in Tyroe House. He owned a part of Griffinstown. At that time a poor woman lived in Griffinstown. One day Byrne came up and asked the woman why she did not pay him the rent. She said that she could not as she had no money. She had a pot of potatoes down on the fire for the children and Byrne made her throw them out in the yard. She cursed him and prayed that he might never have a son to succeed him. At that time he had three sons
