  1. Long ago a mother to the present James May, lived in a little house in one of Kennedy's field at the back of our house. In the centre of this field was a rath. Mrs. May always kept a goat which she used milk night and morning. Mrs. Ryan, a mother to the present Ryans, Ballyjohboy, gave her a presant of a jug to milk the goat in. The goat used always lie against the rath ditch.
This night Mrs. May went out to milk the goat, and went over to the rath ditch, where the goat was lying. She milked the full of the jug and, when she had her milked, the bottom fell out of the jug. And every night after that the goat would not let her milk her against the rath ditch. She would run down the field.
