  1. The people who live in Barromount House at present are Donoghoes. About a hundred years ago a man named Colonel Gore lived in it. He always kept a number of workmen. Colonel was a captain and had a big salary. Behind this house is a pond with an iron railing around it. One day when one of the Colonel's men were working around the pond he fell in and was drowned. Ever after when Colonel was passing this pond, he would hear a voice calling "Colonel". And this got so usual that this pond was called "Colonel's Pond" and is even called it to the
