  1. Granagh Castle.
On the banks of the Suir about five miles north of Waterford there is an old castle known as Granagh Castle. Tradition says that it was occupied by a witch named Marie Ní Fitzgerald. She had a great hatred for the Catholic Religion. She had a number of soldiers at the castle by which she killed and drowned many Catholics amongst them some priests. A young priest was going up the Suir in the direction of Carrick and she thought to use her witchcraft on him. She put her head out through the window and the priest seeing her caused two horns to grow on her forehead so that she could not put back her head and she remained there until she died.
