Old people particularly, are very proficient in such signs and can fortell the kind of weather, to follow, from their observations.They study closely the position of the first appearance of a new moon. If it is standing upright on end, it is an indication that fine weather it to follow, but, if the crescent is inclined to recline on its back it indicates a spell of bad weather. Also the day of the week on which a new moon appears in the sky is an other sign of the weather to follow.
