Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Objects derive their name from things that are peculiar to them. We have many cases of this throughout the country and in our own town we have some examples.
Clash an Irish word meaning a dike derives its name from a dyke cut out by a stream. Beyond Clash is a long field common - ly called the "Paupers Field." Long ago people who had nobody or had not money were buried in it, also those who died for the True Faith. Even up to the present day very poor people are buried there.
In the centre of a field beyond Ballymullen there is a big hole in the ground. This is called the "Devil's Hole" because he is said to have come through this hole making a connection between Hell and Earth.
