Many were found dead along the roadside and in fields. A man had walked from town with a bag of cabbage. When he came to Corballa he was found dead; then the people divided the cabbage. Crowds of the people sold their houses and went to America. There they got work. After a man with a big family would have no food. Then he used to go out
