  2. Hundreds of years ago there was an old hag living at the foot of Benbo. She earned her living by going around footing turf or the people of this district. She carried with her a small black thorn stick. When she went to foot the turf she used to them with the stick and say "two and two together and one on the top". Then the footing was made. This old woman went about and footed a great amount of turf with the black thorn stick.
