- A man named Cullen who was very strong lived in Manorhamilton. One day for a bet he lifted a cart wheel in one hand and balanced it on his chin and then walked with the wheel in this position from end to end of the town with all the people of the town after him.
There is a stone in Patrick Harte's field at the back of Gortnaskeagh N.S. and it was always considered too heavy for any men to lift. It was often tried by strong men who failed. But a man named pat Flynn who is still a ganger on the roads at Manorhamilton succeeded in raising the stone to the height of his knee. This stone may be seen in the field at the back of the school.- Collector
