  1. There are a few ruins in my locality. On the shore of Lough Gill there is a ruin of an old castle which was burned in the year (1641) by Sir Fredrick Hamilton. It belonged to a man named Parks. There is an island on Lough Gill called Church Island and the ruin of an old church is still to be seen there. It was built by Saint Loman. It was there the Calry people used to bury their dead long ago. One the shores of Lough Gill in the townland of Kilmore there was an old castle called Dooney Castle and it was used as a watch tower of the O'Rourke but it fell about four years ago.
    In the village of Dromahair there is the ruin of an old abbey called Creeveales Abbey and it was burned in the Sixteenth Century. In the town of Manorhamilton there stand the ruin of Sir Fredrick Hamilton castle. It was burned by Owen Roe O Neill. It the County of Sligo at Drumcliffe there is a very fine round tower still to be seen and it was built by Saint Columcille. There is a ruin of an old monastery in Sligo and it was burned by Sir Fredrick Hamilton in the year 1641. On the banks of the river
