  1. The following story was recorded from a local farmer's wife - Mrs Martin Dolan, Cornalaghta,
    She learned the story from memory form her father - Michael Moran, Doonkelly, Fivemilebourne.
    He died about 30 years ago and told myself once, that he bought the story from a ballad singer in the town of Drumkeerin at a fair there when he himself was quite young. He memorised the story and delighted to recite it as a proof of his retentive memory. He was a native of the locality and earned his living farming . I reproduce the story exactly as it was told to me by his daughter.
