    reflection of the flames in the sky. All the inhabitants of the town rushed to the scene with buckets of water, but there was no hope of saving it till the Athlone Fire Brigade arrived.
    The cause was accidental. About £1,000 worth of damage was done that night. The pupils had to be housed around the town that night but next day they were taken to the Workhouse where they remained till the damage was repaired.
