    The seeds were not of much use as there wasn't any food substance in them.
    To make Sowens. The housewife got a tub and into it she put a big dish of oatmeal and a dish of seeds. On this she poured water (cold) until all was steeped. The tub was left untouched until the mixture was sour
    Then she got a sieve and strained the mixture through the sieve into a can. The porridge pot was got and the liquid was boiled in it It thickened with the boiling. The Sowens had a sour taste.
    This is what was called Sowens. It was greatly used in big farming places.
    People used to believe that the Sowens wouldn't turn out well if more than one person was at the stirring of the pot.
    The pot stick had to be turned always the one way in the pot.
    Black- Puddings. These weren't much used in this district
    When the farmer killed a cow he saved the blood. Some of the pudding of the cow were taken to the running stream and washed thoroughly.
    Oatmeal was mixed with the blood and these puddings were filled and tied
