- About six years ago a man named Ned Ryan of Gurtnahalla in the Parish of Upperchurch. He was coming from Thurles and just about a hundred yards from The Rag there is a pond and the pond was very deep for it was in winter. The horse turned into the pond for a drink and just as he did one of the wheels went up on the bank and the car turned over and he was drowned.
- About ten years ago there was a house burned the I.R.A. boys that was fighting against the Black and Tans. It was owned by Mr Cooke of Forthwilliam in the Parish of Borrisoleigh. There was no lives lost because there was no one in the house at the time.
