  1. For the past half century may historic people have been in many parts of the parish. Those people have been very famous and their names have been transmitted down from father to son. They are also found in books. The most important tribes were, The O,Briens of Leimneagh, the O Deas and the O, Loughlins, and the Mac Namaras. O.Brien of Leimneagh was married to Maire Luadh and the ruins of the old castle is to be seen yet. There are many of these castles to be seen around the County everywhere.
