   Birds-Lore. There are some birds that migrate such as swallows, cuckoos and corn-cracks. Some people believe that these birds do not migrate at all. They think that cuckoos turns into a hare and milks some peoples cows at night and if they are caught they turn into a witch or a man and run away as quickly as a hare. Boys are sometimes told that they will become deaf and dumb if they harm birds nests. Some people judge the weather by the behavior of certain birds, they say that there will be rain if the curlew cries loudly. Some people believe if you shoot a dip-jack on Christmas Day, there will be rain the three following days. Some folk believe that the Black Bird got its coloured beak through drinking some of Buchulainn's blood when he was dying.
