There is a kettle full of gold hidden under a flat flag in Lugnaquilla. In the time of the rebellion of 1798 a man stole a kettle of gold in Wexford. The soldiers followed him and when he came to Lugnaquilla he put the kettle of gold under a stone. The soldiers arrested him when they found him, and asked him where he had the gold. He told them that he hid it on Lugnaquilla where the sun shone first in the morning.
There was a man by the name of Mr. Fogarty who lived in Aughrim. One day he and his workmen were taking away a fence out of a field. After working for some time Mr. Fogarty heard the bar which he was working with strike against something.
