- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Boards were used instead of glass. Sometimes a kind of little door fastened with a hook was used to cover the window-spaces. The walls were made of clay and stones and were very thick. The floors were made of clay. Half-doors were very common at one time, and some can be seen still. They were used for keeping out chickens, pigs and cows.
They were handy for people bringing in turf or sticks. Turf and sticks were burned in the fire. Turf was got in Kearns' field at Tinnakilly, the field is still called the turf bog.- Bailitheoir
