At the Duffry Gate was seen.
There were gallant boys of Ballyhogue,
A newly formed team.
The first I saw was Davy Reck,
He was a tower of strength,
Like an arrow through the air,
The hurling ball he sent.
And turning to our goalkeeper,
His name it is Jem Hick,
'Twas on the line that day the Ballagh boys he checked.
The best of those young hurling boys,
I have to mention still.
The Duggans down from Merton,
On the top of Murray's Hill.
