  1. There is an old castle down on the bank of the Slaney near Tom Doyle's of "The Deeps".
It is not far from Killurin Station. Sometimes birds at the Slaney build their nests in its walls.
Some people say that monks lived in it last and there is said to be a curse on it.
It is to fall on three people sometime. It is a very small castle.
In the place where the Gorrenstackle River enters the Slaney, a big tree grows out over the river. It is said that a man went out in a boat and the boat blew in under the tree and was overturned and the man was drowned.
"Poll an tSagairt" is near the Slaney, and monks were said to have been drowned by soldiers there. Once upon a time there was a monastery in Ballyhogue and monks lived there. They were murdered at the place still known as "The Murdering Hole.".
