  1. Long ago the people were full grown before they started to wear shoes. I never heard of anybody who never wore shoes. In those times the children go barefoot from the month of April to the month of October and oftentimes the full grown people go barefoot wheeling turf and saving hay. I never heard of any use been made of the water that is used for washing the feet. Boots are made by the local shoemaker. There are not as many shoemakers in this district as there were in former times because most of the shoes are made in factories now. There are only two shoemakers in this district now and their names are Edward Reilly and Patrick Luby. Their fathers and grandfathers were shoemakers before them. The children at the present day oftentimes wear clogs, the soles are made of wood and the uppers are made of leather. About a mile this side
