  1. The inhabitants for miles around here especially the women folk are firm believers in fortune telling. The same ould thing went on years ago only all the ould fortune tellers are dead and gone now.
    Often I heard the old people talking of "Judy the Prophet" who lived in Fyhora. Judy would make your flesh creep with all she could tell of your past as well as your present. All you had to do was bring Judy a bit of tobacco to put in her "dudeen" which was sitting on the hob, or if it wasn't handy to get tobacco a little drop of "potheen" in a bottle would be just as welcome.
    When Judy would see you coming with your tobacco in your fist she used to sing with a merry twinkle in her eye:-
