- Potatoes are grown on my farm at home. I grow about two acres of potatoes on my farm every year. The sort of potatoes I grown on my farm are, champions, pinks, and dates. I grow about the same amount of potatoes every year. My father and brothers prepare the ground. The ground is manured before it is turned up. I sow my potatoes in ridges. The ridges are made with a spade. Long ago wooden ploughs were used but there are no wooden ploughs now. The way to make ridges is, first the ground is cut into ridges about four feet and a half wide. Farm manure is then spread on the ridges and the potatoes are dropped on top of the manure in rows about eighteen inches apart. Then a sod is turned up on each side to cover the potatoes. When the potatoes are about a month sown they are shovelled. The spades are not made locally, they are(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
