- Long ago a man used to go around making matches and he was called the match-maker. When a man would be looking for a wife this match-maker would look for a wife that would suit him. Then the husband would drive down to the chapel in an ass and cart. When they would be married the husband would drive the wife home to her own house and then they would have a marriage feast. Then they would go away to their own house and they would not return until they would be a month married.
The night of the marriage the local men would dress up in straw and they would go to the house to band-beg for money or drink and if they did not get either they would cause a lot of annoyance.
It is said that May, July and October are the three unlucky months to get married in.
