  1. Long ago the children had to bring a sod of turf to school every second day and they had to write on slates and had no books. A few special men had a class at night and in the evening because there were no teachers at that time. In summer the were taught out in open air and in the winter they were taught in houses belonging to other people.
    There was a man taching in Ennistymon and his name was Paddy Kelleher.
