  1. There was a man living in Drumdigus in the parish of Kilmurry who had seven cows. He was getting no produce out of the milk and he understood that someone was milking them. He thougth that it was one of his neighbours. The next May Day was near at hand so he made up his mind to watch which one of them was stealing his milk.
After sunrise on May morning he went in hide and taking his gun with him he watched until he noticed a hare playing with the cows. He took no notice to the hare at first but after a while he noticed the hare going around from cow to cow sucking a portion of the cows' milk. He took aim and fired at her but he only wounded her in the hip.
Then he followed her to one of the neighbouring houses, as she was bleeding it was easy to track her, because she left a few pools of blood behind her, so it was easy to trace her. Then when he arrived at her house, he went in and he met her son at the door, and he told him that he would want to go for the Doctor. He also told him that he did not rise the gun very high because if he did he would have shot his mother dead. Then he went into the house and saw a woman (the boy's mother) sitting in a chair beside the fire and a pool of blood under her. After that there was an improvement in the milk.
