    house where there were large families, everyone looking for a piece. The mark which was put on it with a large knife was a cross. This was a big round tin vessel with two handles, out of the side of it. This they hung over the fire with the pot hangers to bake without a cover. Sometimes when the fire was too hot it being of course from the blaze of the furzes, they placed it in front of the fire supported by a grid iron
