- Forts There is a fort in nearly every farm in this district. They are called "forts", but in other parts of Ireland, they are called "raths", and sometimes "lios".There is a fort in our farm, which is in the townland of Kilmurry, and there is supposed to be a room of gold in it, and a bull minding it. It is very near our house, and lights were often seen there. When you enter a fort you would always see another from it. The forts are always circular in shape, and are usually sorrounded with white thorn, and blackthorn. All forts are supposed to be inhabited by the fairies, who are always enjoying themselves by dancing, singing,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
