    It is an old custom to have a goose cooked for Michaelmas night, September 29th.
    We have "snap-apple" on Hallowe'en and also a special cake in which are placed a piece of cloth, a piece of timber and a ring. It is said that the person who gets the piece of cloth will be a nun. Whoever gets the piece of timber is believed to be the first to die, while the person who gets the ring is said to be the first to be married.
