  1. Dock leaves are the most harmful weeds growing. They are harmful because they spread rapidly and impoverish the soil. Thistles grow only where the land is good. Spink grows only where land is poor. A certain herb cures the Yellow Jaundice. A weed known as "Costor a wan" which grows in ditches is used as feeding for pigs and young turkeys. Nettles are used for food for turkeys and young fowl and are boiled with meat when cabbage is scarce. The léthe with green leaves and red berries poison goats. Hurts which grow on mountains are used for making jam and dyeing clothes. The elder berry is used for making ink and for dyeing clothes also.
