Jackie the Lantern (sic) was a blacksmith...

Jackie the Lantern was a blacksmith. He was in his forge one day and a little man came in to him. Jackie did his best to light a fire to warm the little man. The little man asked Jackie to call for three wishes. Jackie's first wish was that every time he put his hand in his pocket he would find a shilling. The little man told Jackie to call for his second wish. Jackie said that he had a little stool and every time he wanted to sit down on it some other one wold have taken it up. So he wished that whoever would sit down on it would cling to it until he himself would release him. For the third wish the little man told him to think of the Last Day. Jack said he had a bit of heath behind the house and that he couldn't get a bit when he wanted it for the neighbours had it all pulled. So he wished that the person who would go near the heath would cling to it. The little man left the forge without Jackie seeing him.
