go away. She told her of a place on the seashore where they should meet. At first Emer would not agree, for she did not like to let Cuchulain go but at last she consented for fear he should die without waking. She then went away, leaving the old woman with Cuchulain. Now the old woman was really a beautiful fairy whose name was Fand. She took Cuchulain away into the country of the air, and he soon got better and at last the day came when Cuchulain and Emer were to meet on the seashore when Emer saw Fand so young and beautiful she was angy and said she had taken Cuchulain away from her and she drew her sword intending to kill Fand then a great storm arose and all the sky grew darker and darker so dark that Emer and Cuchulain could not see one another. But when at last it rolled away Emer and Cuchulain had forgotten all about his sleep and Fand the fairy who had cured him, and they went back to their home together both very happy. And that was what the fairy wished for her desire was to see Cuchulain and his wife Emer as happy as possible. For Fand was one of the good fairies.
