- About one and a half miles from where I live in Cartron, there was a old brick yard situated in the lands of Canon Quinn. Ballymote. It is partly to be seen yet. But this old brick yard is now overgrown with grass and moss. About sixty years ago, brick making was carried on there. There was a large number of men employed working and making bricks daily. The way they used to make the brick was first the men went out into a field, and dug up daub. They brought it into the kilns, and throw into a dry fire of dry turf and left it there until it was well dryed. After a while they used to take out the daub and cut it into bricks. There is another brick yard situated in the hands of James Benson.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
