  1. I live in Knockroe, in the parish of Castleconnor, in the county of Mayo and in the barony of Tirenagh. Knockroe is situated between Castleconnor and Ardvally and in the north of Mayo. Knockroe means "the red hill" because it is covered with sand and there are a lot of hills in it.
    The Ardvally ditch separates Knockroe from Ardvally and the quay separates it from Castleconnor. The Ardvalley ditch goes all the way down as far as the quay road.
    There was once a wood in this village. There are lots of trees in Thomas Doran's place yet. He is
