Blackberries are not very much used as food. Children go picking them. They are very nice for making jam. - Composition
Building Houses
Long ago the people of this country were very poor. They lived in dirty, mud houses. There was a very greedy landlord over them. The people were afraid to make them better for fear he would make them pay a higher rent.
The houses were made by putting one sod over another until it was high enough to put a roof on it. Then a flat roof would be put on. The floor was generally made of mud. Sometimes the farmer held a dance so that the people would(continues on next page)- Collector
