In olden times there was a half-fool living here in Ballyheigue and he was very fond of music. His Grandfather left him a set of pipes when he was dying, but this fool could play only one tune and that was called "The Black Rogue". He used to get a good deal of money from the gentlemen, for they used to get sport out of him.
One night the piper was coming home from a wedding, half drunk and on the way he met"Aonncarha an t-asail" and he remained talking to him and coaxed him to play the "Black Rogue" and as he was finishing the tune a Púca came behind him and flung him on his back. The piper began to scream, saying " let me home" , " let me home" I have a ten-penny piece in my pocket for my mother, she wants snuff. Never mind your mother, said the Púca but play up for me the "Shan Van
Vocht". I don't know it, said the piper. I'll make you know it, said the Púca. The piper began to play as(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
