- The Greedy Man and the LiarThere was once a man who was very poor and he wanted to became rich and he asked the advice of a neighbour. The poor man had an old horse and he wanted to sell and his neighbour gave him an advice. He told him to go to the fair of Banada. In that time there used be at Banada for horses so he told him to bring the horse to Banada the night before and to buy a quarter stone of bran and that he would give him a pound in silver and he told to starve the horse for two day before a to make a mash for the horse and to put the silver into the mash and when the horse would be making his manure in the morning they would see the silver with it and to show it to the people and, so he did as he was told. He came up to a buyer who told him he would give him £50-0-0. The greedy man went home and fed the horse with oats and hay. At about 12 o' clock in the night he went out to see would he get the money but he didn't get it and he went(continues on next page)
