- In the year of 1858 two men named Paddy
Waters and Jimmy Sweeney were returning
home from a wake beyond Bloonacool at
midnight. When near Ragoura in a place
where there are labourer's cottages now
built, they observed a big black pig
rooting along the side of the road, and
as they were passing (them) him out he
opened his mouth and made a grab for
Paddy Waters. Paddy screamed and ran
off, but Jimmy being much younger and
more active and who carried a stick in
his hand remained behind beating back
the pig to give Paddy a chance to
get clear. Then when Jimmy thought
Paddy was well on, he set off after him
and the pig to his heels. When Jimmy
would overtake Paddy the pig would
again try to attack Pady and Jimmy
would again remain beating back the pig
so as to allow Paddy to keep going. And
they continued in this way until
