- A piece of Sallyrod or any other sappy wood about 3 inches long and not very thick was procured. A cut was put through the skin all round about midway. A slanting piece was cut-off one end and a nick taken out about half an inch below this. Then it was tapped with a knife to loosen the skin which was slipped off from the midway cut.
