    Some people say that the month of November is the month during which fairies and spirits are seen most. Here is a story told about a family who lived down in Ardara.

    Some people say that the month of November is the month during which fairies and spirits are seen most. Here is a story told about a family who lived down in Ardara. One time the road beside their farm was being widened. A piece of their farm was to be cut away in order to widen the road. On this particular bit of land there was a lot of heights which were supposed to be fairy forts. In the middle of these forts was a holly tree which was also to be cut away. Every night during the time it was being taken away the neighbours could hear crying and moaning. The men who were taking it away could also hear it but the people to whom it belonged never heard it. One night not long after its removal the man who caused it to be taken away sent his two daughters up to Killybegs on some errend. They stayed until about nine o'clock on a Summer's evening and then started off walking home. When they were about half way home it was getting dark. As they were passing the farm where the road was widened two little figures followed them. They followed on and now and again the girls stopped to see who they were but when they stopped
