It was also gone the next day. I heard the men in the moon thrashing. I pulled two ribs out of my mother's head and made a ladder. I went up and threw it all down. The next day I went to the mill to sell the oats. The horse fell and broke his back. I cut a few briars and tied them on his back. Black berries used to grow on his back every year after that. One man said that the old man was a liar and he was killed.
