behind the house. The soldiers got him and brought him to the king. The king told him that if he would tell a good story and the first man that would say he was a liar would be killed. Then he started to tell a story. "Myself and my mother were cutting oats one day. There were about a hundred acres in the field. We were not long cutting when we saw a hare. I fired the hoop and caught it in the hare. We had the oats cut in the evening. It was also gone the next day. I heard the men in the moon thrashing. I pulled two ribs out of my mother's head and made a ladder. I went up and threw it all down. The next day I went to the mill to sell the oats. The horse fell and broke his back. I cut a few briars and tied them on his back. Black berries used to grow on his back every year after that. One man said that the old man was a liar and he was killed.
