  1. (continued from previous page)
    They missed Jack Donoghue
    IV
O'Donoghue then to make his escape,
To the woods he did repair
For criminals dare not show their face
    In morning, noon or day,
Then every week in the newspaper,
    There was something published new,
    Concerning that bold fenian lad,
    Called brave Jack Donoghue
    V
Now as Donoghue was walking out,
    One summer's afternoon,
Little were his notions his death would
    Take place so soon,
The sergeant of the horse police,
    Discharged his carabine,
As he loudly cried, "O'Donaghue now surrender
    Or else fight.
    VI
"To give in to you you cowardly dog,
    Is a thing I n'er shall do,
Id rather fight with all my might,"
    Says brave O'Donoghue,
"I'd roam those woods and forests like
    A wolf or a kangaroo,
Before I'd work for England," says bold Jack Donoghue
