began the work. The devil appeared and began pelting fire at the man, who replied by shaking holy water at the devil. The neighbours could see nothing but the sparks and coals flying in all directions. The man finally got the better of the devil with the holy water. But his clothes were burned and his face scorched. There are people still living that saw the man with his face burned. The dead man then told him he was now free and that he was going to heaven.
