    There was a man one time living on very poor land.

    280.
    There was a man one time living on very poor land.He had a wife and two children .Being very poor he decided to set out and get work someplace.
    He took with him three wheaten loaves as provisions for the journey.After travelling for many days he found work in a farmer's house in Co Cork.The wages agreed upon were £12 for year.
    He worked contentedly for one year and on being paid the farmer said "For two pounds I will give you advice which will be of value to you later."The servant agreed to let him take £2 in lieu of advice which was as follows:-
    1. Never take a short cut, always go by the round and open road.
    He continued to work for a further year ,at the end of which time the farmer said for £2 he would give him another advice.The servant agreed and the advice was .
    Never stop in a house where there's an ould man and a young woman .
    The man worked on for a third year ,and they came to the same agreement .The
