Lesson = If a man had a field of hay out in the rain he would rather to have it in a rick.
Proverb = "A good run is better than a bad stand."
Lesson = If a man was going to beat a small boy it would be better for the boy to run away than to stand his ground.
Proverb = "A shut fist catches no flies."
Lesson = If you didn't want to give neighbours anything he asked, such as a man to save hay. A person would never know but he would want a man himself. A person should never be too independent.
Proverb = "You can never trust a horse's hind leg."
Lesson = If you knew a man and you thought he was a nice man by his face.
Proverb = " 'Tis bad wind that don't blow good for somebody."
Lesson = If a man's wife died and she had a lot of money, it would be bad news for her husband if her brother got the money.
