The starlings come in flocks in Winter and lodge in fields, and chatter together for a few minutes...

    (continued from previous page)
The crows do a lot of harm to wheat in the Winter and Spring.
Wood-quests damage cabbage in the Summer.
We can hear the merry whistling of the blackbird on a frosty evening in the midst of the Winter.

There are a lot of birds around this district. The blackbird, thrush, robin, swallow, wren, crow, tomtit, curlew, crane, wagtail, lark, magpie, Billie Brown, gold-finch, bull-finch, chaffinch, yellow hammer, wood-quest, pheasant, partridge, grouse, jack-snipe, owl, stone-chatter, water-hen, teal, widgen, wood-cock, corncrake, hawk and the sparrow.
the robin comes and stands on the window-sill when there's going to be hard frost or snow.
The crow flies low when there's going to be wind or rain, and they fly high when there's going to be fine weather.
The crane flies high when there is going to be fine weather.
The yellow-hammer screeches like a man sharpening a saw when there's going to be wet weather.
The jack-snipe roars like a goat when there is going to be wet weather.
