    and mouth. Some time ago the wren-boys used to dress in straw. This dress was very nice when done properly. They go in numbers of about five sometimes seven, generally walking and they bring musical instruments with them to each house, when they enter the house they play Irish dance music and dance to it. The actual words they say are
    The wren the wren the king of all birds
    On St Stephens day he was caught in the furze
    Although he is little his family is great
    Rise up land-lady and give us a treat.
    So up with the kettle and down with the pan and give us our answer and let us be gone.
    Then they go round collecting pennies from the people of the house. Then with all the money they get up a big dance.
